About this product
Scabies is caused by a mite that burrows into the top layer of the skin. It is the burrowing and the body's reaction to it — not poor hygiene — that produces the intense itching, worst at night, and the rash between the fingers, around the wrists, waist and ankles. It passes easily through prolonged skin contact, which is why it tends to move through a household rather than affect one person.
EvoScab Lotion contains permethrin, an antiparasitic medication used to treat scabies. It works by killing the mites and their eggs. This is a leave-on treatment: it is applied to dry skin over the whole body, left in place for 8 to 12 hours, and then washed off. Applying it and rinsing straight away will not work.
Coverage is what decides the outcome. Apply from the neck down and include the scalp, the areas behind the ears, the palms and the soles — the sites people most often miss. Do not apply to the face or to mucous membranes. A single application may be sufficient, but a second application seven days later reduces the risk of treatment failure, because it catches any mites that hatched after the first.
Itching can continue for one to two weeks after successful treatment while the skin settles; that on its own is not a sign the treatment failed. Standard practice is to treat everyone in the household at the same time, even those without symptoms, and to wash clothing, towels and bedding used in the previous few days in hot water and dry them thoroughly. If the itch is worsening, new burrows appear, or the skin becomes infected, see a doctor.
EvoScab Soap is designed to be used alongside this lotion as a wash-off cleansing bar. It does not replace the leave-on treatment.

Directions for use

Contraindicated in infants under 2 months of age; safety has not been established in this group.
